Cappadocia University (KUN) has prepared the Samsun Tourism Master Plan with a scientifically based, participatory, and sustainable approach. As one of Turkey’s leading higher education institutions with expertise in tourism planning and destination management, KUN has analyzed Samsun’s natural, cultural, and socio-economic structure in detail to reveal the city’s potential in the field of tourism.
The prepared master plan includes a detailed analysis of the current situation, identification of strengths and weaknesses (SWOT), strategic objectives and priorities, thematic focus areas, vision projects, regional and local project proposals, marketing and promotion strategies, and monitoring and evaluation processes.
Samsun’s diverse tourism resources, such as coastal tourism, nature-based tourism, cultural and historical tourism, health and thermal tourism, have been evaluated with a multi-dimensional approach during the planning process, and feasible strategies have been developed accordingly. Extensive consultations with local stakeholders also guided the analyses, ensuring the plan was shaped in accordance with local realities. Prepared with the contribution of KÜN, this plan aims to contribute to strengthening Samsun as a sustainable, competitive tourism destination that supports regional development.
