The international webinar titled “Green Skills for Tourism SMEs” was held online as part of Erasmus Days 2026 within the framework of the Sustainable Ecotourism Awareness (SEA) Project, of which our University is a project partner.
The webinar brought together experts from different countries to discuss how tourism businesses can integrate sustainability practices into their daily operations. Key topics included green skills, sustainable tourism certifications, the green transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the role of digital learning tools in supporting this transformation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Burak Sakal, Director of our University’s Social and Strategic Studies Application and Research Center, participated as a speaker, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Avşin Ayhan also attended the event. During his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakal provided information about the Green Tourism Certifications Training developed within the SEA Project and highlighted our University’s contributions to the development of educational content and related project activities.
Through the contributions of our Social and Strategic Studies Application and Research Center, our University continues to support the SEA Project’s efforts to develop green skills in the tourism sector, promote sustainability standards, and facilitate green certification processes, particularly for small and medium-sized tourism enterprises.
Supported by the European Union under the Erasmus+ KA220-VET programme, the SEA Project aims to help tourism businesses in Türkiye, Italy, and Malta transition towards sustainable and resource-efficient business models, strengthen competencies related to green certification processes, and promote the use of artificial intelligence-supported learning opportunities.
