Under the coordination of the Sivas Governorate, the “Sivas Tourism Master Plan and Sivas Tourism Development Action Plan,” formulated by our university to shape the future of the city’s tourism sector, was officially presented to the public during a high-profile event. Attended by a distinguished delegation of state officials including the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy; AK Party Group Chairman, Abdullah Güler; and the Governor of Sivas, Dr. Yılmaz Şimşek the program served as a platform to unveil Sivas’s new strategic tourism roadmap.

Authored by our university’s esteemed faculty members Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Gülcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Burak Sakal, Dr. Avşin Ayhan, and Dr. Burcu Tezcan the plan primarily aims to reposition Sivas from a mere transit point into a primary overnight tourism destination. Developed through rigorous scientific and multi-stakeholder methodologies, including SWOT analysis, search conferences, and extensive field research, this strategic roadmap for the 2026-2030 period establishes a holistic framework. It integrates the city’s deep-rooted history, Seljuk architectural heritage, geothermal resources, and rich culinary culture into global tourism markets, thereby driving sustainable regional development.
