  • Library Sustainability Management System Project

This research project, conducted by the Cappadocia University Social and Strategic Studies Application and Research Center, aims to examine the feasibility and potential of sustainability certification for public institutions in Turkey, primarily libraries and museums.

By investigating the opportunities and challenges of sustainable practices in these cultural institutions, the project aims to contribute to the advancement of sustainable development efforts. The project also aims to fill the gap in academic studies on the application of sustainability principles to museums and libraries, and to provide practical information and recommendations for policymakers, cultural managers, and stakeholders in the tourism and culture sectors.

Ultimately, the project aims to promote a more environmentally, socially, and economically responsible approach to museum and library management by leading the way in supporting the overall implementation of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals in Turkey. Within the framework of this project, it is also aimed to examine the sustainability certification journeys of Rami Library, the first institution in Turkey to receive the Biosphere Sustainable Museum Certificate, and İzmir Culture and Arts Factory, which also holds the same certificate, and to provide the necessary academic and technical support to ensure that these institutions are fully compliant with sustainability principles in all aspects.

The goal is to create a Sustainability Plan for museums and libraries, based on the examples of the Rami Library and the Izmir Culture and Arts Factory, and to ensure long-term sustainability.
